Our Team

Steve Lickteig

Co-Founder, Executive Producer

Steve, along with Robin Hilton, launched Small Good Thing over twenty years ago, producing documentaries for public radio and film. Now, Small Good Thing’s focus is podcasts. Most recently, Steve ran the podcast team at NBC News and MSNBC. Under his leadership, NBC became a top-10 podcast publisher with more than 45 million downloads per month and several hit shows. Before that, he ran the Slate podcast network, overseeing 25 shows, several of which he helped create. Steve also spent many years at NPR, producing hundreds (thousands?) of stories and interviews. He’s worked on every NPR news show including three that no longer exist (RIP Talk of the Nation, Anthem and Sounds Like Science). And he was the EP of Weekend All Things Considered for four years. In his earliest days, he worked as a radio newscaster, reporter and country music DJ.
